WINTER CHALLENGE: DAY 4 UPDATE

9:43 a.m.: i just put down Pride and Prejudice. i would have finished it last night but i watched Sense and Sensibility with my parents instead. i consider this not procrastination but research as it is an in-depth media exploration of another one of Jane Austen's works.

book in brief: turning the pages of P&P pumped more estrogen through my little body than any other feminine activity (i.e. eating Sees chocolates, shopping, getting pedicures, gossiping, flirting, buying Midol, etc etc etc) has ever unleashed in me before. forget Team Jacob; i'm Team Darcy.

haha...i read the comment after only reading the first half of the post (call it ADD, I am super distracable right now) and so I didn't realize it was a quote...and just thinking of that as what James said...it was...yeah...ha.

Keep reading Melissa!!! I agree...P&P is quite the estrogen fest. Maybe only surpassed by childbirth.

six weeks. six books. twenty dollars. the challenge it happened upon a fall night at the university cafeteria: me: "i'm going to read all the novels before next semester." dear friend chris munekawa : "no you're not." me: "yes i am." chris: "no you're not. why i should wake up early

i have plenty of good reasons for this (such as: i have more time to get on top of my schoolwork so i won't waste money on tuition and can do well so i can feel good about myself as a student and also so i can get into a good grad school; i have more time to work out so i can both a. eat more taco bell and b. feel better about my body image; i have more time to journal and write and actually do the things i'd like to do for a living one day; i can actually be on time to class; i am just naturally a morning person and therefore happier when i get up in the morning; etc etc etc), but none of them seemed to click until i thought of this in the shower this morning: 1. if i wake up earlier, i can go on a run (note: this alone is not sufficient reasoning, because running is hard and really not that fun. people really have to lie to themselves a lot before they actually mean it when they say they like it). 2. if i go on a run, i have to shower (automatic better reason because sometim

today i solved one of my life's most haunting mysteries. when we first moved into this house (1997), we found, in the closet that now holds all my clothes, the creepiest looking bug i've ever seen. i freaked out, we killed it, never again did we see any other of it's type. since that day, the fear and uncomfortability i face my own home due to this horrible insect (particularly while putting on shoes that have been in closets) has immensely restricted my happiness and security. how did i know it wasn't an alien being? i'd never seen one before, and i'd never seen one since. it could have had all sorts of venom and intergalactic poison in it's fangs (if it had fangs). all kinds of bad. that awful little bug, just lurking in the crevices of my own home, the most evil that could fit in two inches of insect. just horrible. i recently saw someone's picture of the same critter, and they had called it a "potato bug." i googled it. and sure enough, tha
