winter challenge day 16 update

i'm still on Wuthering Heights, not entirely sure what page because i haven't picked it up at all except to move it out of the way of all my stuff.

we had an incident in the family and i have been reminded of the insignificance of my nerdy (and selfish) agendas, and my cocky book-nerd attitude. forgive me.

for the record, i care about a lot of things beside books. and, for the record, a book is only worth caring about insofar as it helps you to care about a lot of things.

but when you understand something greater because of literature, proper due ought to be given to the words that inspired a greater truth.

if that makes any sense.

sometimes (mostly) things sound better in my head.

today i solved one of my life's most haunting mysteries. when we first moved into this house (1997), we found, in the closet that now holds all my clothes, the creepiest looking bug i've ever seen. i freaked out, we killed it, never again did we see any other of it's type. since that day, the fear and uncomfortability i face my own home due to this horrible insect (particularly while putting on shoes that have been in closets) has immensely restricted my happiness and security. how did i know it wasn't an alien being? i'd never seen one before, and i'd never seen one since. it could have had all sorts of venom and intergalactic poison in it's fangs (if it had fangs). all kinds of bad. that awful little bug, just lurking in the crevices of my own home, the most evil that could fit in two inches of insect. just horrible. i recently saw someone's picture of the same critter, and they had called it a "potato bug." i googled it. and sure enough, tha...

why i should wake up early

i have plenty of good reasons for this (such as: i have more time to get on top of my schoolwork so i won't waste money on tuition and can do well so i can feel good about myself as a student and also so i can get into a good grad school; i have more time to work out so i can both a. eat more taco bell and b. feel better about my body image; i have more time to journal and write and actually do the things i'd like to do for a living one day; i can actually be on time to class; i am just naturally a morning person and therefore happier when i get up in the morning; etc etc etc), but none of them seemed to click until i thought of this in the shower this morning: 1. if i wake up earlier, i can go on a run (note: this alone is not sufficient reasoning, because running is hard and really not that fun. people really have to lie to themselves a lot before they actually mean it when they say they like it). 2. if i go on a run, i have to shower (automatic better reason because sometim...
